Literature and music are essential in any classroom and at the preschool level can be the cornerstone for pre-reading skills, classroom management, physical activity, and pure enjoyment (to name a few). Reading aloud, having books within reach, and discussing literary elements inspire the emergent reader. Singing and playing instruments builds community, rhythm in language, and is an important outlet for expression.
