Stepping Stones Tree

The Stepping Stones tree holds a significant place in our classroom and in our school traditions. Historically we have used this tree as an alphabet tree, to hold and display the letters of the week as we talk about them with students. Well, as the seasons change, we are changing that up this year and you will have the first part in getting that change started! We will be utilizing the tree to help us discuss and explore the seasons as they naturally occur outside of our windows. We ask that all Stepping Stones students make the summer leaves with their families in advance of the first day of school. We will then display them on our tree as a community project and “family” tree. Please trace your child’s hand on the provided green piece of paper, cut them out (either together or independently) and add a photo of your child and a name.

By the way, if your child does not have scissors, we recommend getting a pair for your child to practice with, with supervision of course! Any small, blunt tip scissors will work and most fit both lefties and righties these days. The pair below has a lever that can be activated if your child is just learning how to cut. We find this very useful in the classroom as it will help spring the scissors back open after squeezing to cut.
